Asset Manager & CMBD
Asset Manager & CMDB provides the contextual intelligence layer of Moneytoring® Epiphany. It maintains the operational context required to transform technical telemetry into meaningful operational information by associating monitored observations with the assets, services, dependencies, locations, and business relationships that compose the monitored environment. Rather than functioning solely as a Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Asset Manager serves as the centralized repository of contextual information supporting the analytical processes performed throughout the Epiphany platform.
Operational telemetry generated by observability platforms typically describes isolated technical conditions without sufficient context regarding the business services, infrastructure components, or operational relationships involved. Asset Manager enriches this telemetry by maintaining a structured representation of the monitored ecosystem, allowing events, metrics, anomalies, and correlated incidents to be interpreted within the technological and operational environment where they occur.
The platform consolidates information describing configuration items, logical and physical relationships, service dependencies, geographical locations, device classifications, operational ownership, inventory attributes, and other contextual metadata relevant to operational analysis. This information may originate from client CMDBs, enterprise asset inventories, discovery processes, operational repositories, onboarding activities, or other authoritative enterprise data sources. Depending on the implementation model, Asset Manager can synchronize information from multiple external systems while maintaining a unified contextual model for analytical processing.
Asset Manager continuously associates operational observations with the corresponding contextual information before they participate in downstream analytical processes. This enrichment enables telemetry to be interpreted in relation to the technological assets, business services, organizational responsibilities, operational locations, and dependency structures to which the observed elements belong. By incorporating contextual information into the analytical pipeline, Epiphany significantly improves correlation accuracy, operational prioritization, historical analysis, and decision-support capabilities.
The contextual model maintained by Asset Manager extends beyond individual assets to represent the relationships established across the monitored environment. Dependencies between infrastructure components, applications, network devices, cloud resources, business services, and other monitored elements provide the structural foundation required for service-oriented operational analysis. These relationships allow downstream analytical processes to evaluate how individual operational conditions propagate across interconnected technological components rather than treating each observation as an isolated event.
Where topology capabilities are implemented, Asset Manager also provides the contextual foundation for logical and physical topology visualization. Device interconnections, routing relationships, site associations, geographical locations, and other structural relationships become part of the operational context consumed by Epiphany, enabling analytical processes to incorporate network topology and service dependency information into incident interpretation and operational reasoning.
Asset Manager also supports complementary operational domains such as IP address management, inventory governance, operational classification, and configuration metadata, allowing these information domains to participate in the same contextual model used throughout the analytical platform. The availability of these capabilities depends on the components included within the contracted solution and the operational information maintained by the client.
Rather than functioning as an independent operational repository, Asset Manager operates as the upstream contextualization stage of the Moneytoring® Epiphany analytical architecture. The contextual information it maintains is continuously consumed by data processing, correlation, artificial intelligence, operational reasoning, reporting, dashboarding, automation, and decision-support capabilities, ensuring that every analytical process operates upon information that has already been associated with its corresponding operational context instead of isolated technical observations.
